Lake Winnipeg, Manitoba

This summer we have spent some time exploring various areas around Lake Winnipeg. It is a beautiful lake and is the sixth largest lake in Canada and is about 24,514 square kilometers. We by no means have seen even a fraction of it but plan on doing a lot more exploring in the future. We spent a day at Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park on the West side of the lake and plan to go back so we can spend a bit more time checking out a few of the trails up there. While there we saw lots of pelicans, cormorants and some vultures. It was a beautifully calm day and all in all made for a perfect day! Later this month we spent a day driving up the East side of the lake stopping in at Patricia Beach and Grand Beach. Both were wonderful... it was an extremely windy day and made for some impressive waves coming in off the lake. The wind also carved some very artistic patterns in the sand and made for some amazing pictures. Despite the wind it was very peaceful and relaxing walking along the beach. And even though the weather was so much different then our trip up to Hecla it again made for another perfect day! Hope everyone has had a chance to get out and explore this summer! Enjoy the pictures!

Awesome photos guys! I especially like the ones with the rocks and sand. I also like the one of the sand and water with the log on the beach and the very dark clouded sky. It always amazes me that such simple things we take for granted become art in your collection. Keep up the great work! I expect to see your work in National Geographic one day. Love Mom
